LEVERAGING ON THE DEVELOPMENT
OF QIANHAI, CAPITALISING ON
THE COMPETITIVE EDGES OF HONG KONG
背靠前海 面向香港
for “ ianhai” and “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area” are hot
topics in the nation recently. Hong Kong Chief Executive Ms
Carrie Lam, for one, mentioned Qianhai several times in her
Policy Address 2017. Last year, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang put
Q ward the concept of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area,
that is targeted to compete neck to neck with other mega bay areas
such as San Francisco, New York and Tokyo. Qianhai, aptly named “the
special region in the special area”, is deemed by many to be the bridge
to enter the Bay Area.
A significant number of foreign corporations, have already taken
the lead to set up their headquarters in the region. Hanking Group
is amongst one of the pioneers to seize the opportunity, raising the
Hanking Center in 2012, which is now the landmark of Shenzhen. The
spectacular building was created by Pritzker Architecture Prize winner
Thom Mayne and it has won countless awards since the day it was
revealed. The Center is the world’s first high-rise supported completely
by steel structure with an external core-tube, bringing a fresh sight
to the skyline of Shenzhen. Hanking Center occupies about 11,000m 2
of space with a gross building area of around 167,000m . The higher
2
blocks will be A-Class offices while the lower blocks will be reserved
for commercial and retail purpose. The building adopts an open mode,
in which a public space and a 1,000m double-level sky lobby are
2
especially retained to be an integral part of the city.
With its characteristic
architecture design
and superb location,
Hanking Center is
now the landmark of
Shenzhen.
